Warriors of Gor - available from August 30th 2022. Welcome to John Norman's. Chronicles of Gor. It is my honour to welcome you to this, the new home for John Norman on the internet. Back in 2001, New World Publishers was formed with the aim of bringing the Gor series back into print. To accompany that, a website was created, World of Gor.


Unpublished Gor Books / Boing Boing

On this page is a collection of the art work on the covers of most of the books in John Norman's series of Gor. There are a few of the books that I did not scan as I felt the so-called artwork on these re-issues are pretty tacky, and not the beautiful art of the original prints.

Gor ( / ˈɡɔːr /) is the fictional setting for a series of sword and planet novels written by philosophy professor John Lange, writing as John Norman. The setting was first described in the 1966 novel Tarnsman of Gor. The series is inspired by science fantasy pulp fiction works by Edgar Rice Burroughs, such as the Barsoom series.

Friday 3 January 2020 Alternative covers to recent Gor novels I came across these recently. Someone has obviously taken it upon themselves to create alternative covers to the more recent crop of Gor novels from Witness onwards, continuing the style of the American DAW books of the late seventies through to the late eighties.

Each book represents a chapter in the broader narrative, introducing new twists, turns, and perhaps the occasional talking dragon (disclaimer: dragons depend on the genre).

John Norman, real name John Lange, was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1931. His best known works, the Gor series, currently span 36 books written 1966 (Tarnsman of Gor) to 2021 (Avengers of Gor). Three installments of the Telnarian Histories, plus three other fiction works and a non-fiction paperback. Mr. Norman is married and has three children.

Mr. Irving has been nominated for a National Book Award three times—winning once, in 1980, for his novel The World According to Garp. He received an O. Henry Award in 1981 for his short story "Interior Space." In 2000, Mr. Irving won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Cider House Rules. In 2013, he won a Lambda Literary Award.
